Performance Test: Sprite drawing

Feature #2792 [Closed]
ricardo 2013-09-10 18:57 . Updated almost 3 years ago

cocos2d-x has a performance test called “Sprite Performance Test” but we haven’t documented the results.

Without those values we won’t know how fast is cocos2d-x, if we are making it slower or faster. We need that data!

We have to run all the tests, and the subtests with 500 and 1500 sprites.

We need to run them in these devices:

  • iPhone 4S
  • Android mid-range with Qualcomm chip
  • Android mid-range with PowerVR chip
  • Android mid-range with ??? (which is the name of the other chip??)

Since running the test manually could take a lot of time, we need to automate them:

  • each test should run for 5 seconds, and every 0.2 seconds it should get the FPS numbers. After the 5 seconds it should print: the min value, the max value and the average FPS.

It is important to do it in an automatic way since we need to run the “Sprite Test” many times.

We must document the results in the spreadsheet, in a new page:
